For a long time, my friends used to joke about things like, "Can’t you code a bot that converts a photo of a tablature to tabs?" or "Can’t you code a bot that does this or that?" But there was always one that caught my attention: "Program a bot that plays music."
So, I thought, why not do it?
Then I remembered, the problem: Copyrights.
Yes, in golden times like 2020, music bots playing songs from YouTube were an everyday thing until they slowly started to disappear. Some even used the Spotify API—or at least that’s what I understood.
But, well… some of them are no longer with us.
But why not give it a try? Why not create something like that, but "different"?
We decided to program a system that plays music, but in a different way to avoid direct conflicts—a command that accepts MP3 files and plays them. This way, we "avoid" conflicts and leave the decision and responsibility to the user. Our bot would only serve a song, never distribute something without permission.
Let me ask you, if you go to a restaurant, you're there to eat, right? But what happens if the restaurant plays music? Should you pay to listen to it? If the music is "pirated," whose fault is it? The restaurant’s?
I mean, I’m not in favor of piracy or anything illegal. I even pay for streaming services, but I am aware that not everyone can afford these features.
The system simply serves an MP3 file provided by a user. Where they got it from is their business.
Anyway, always act with consideration. I just wanted to share a bit of my thoughts.
